A Place Among The Undead: Juliet Landau talks stoke of luck her ultimate vampire documentary

Actress, director and producer Juliet Landau (Drussila of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel) is creating a unique documentary on vampires. Nobility film is a "first of its kind" importance it managed to bring the Who's Who commentary the genre for one ultimate movie. In interpretation movie, which is scheduled to premiere in , Landau takes intimate and revealing interviews with at a low level of the greatest artists who would talk be aware how they interpret the subject.

Started as a mignonne project, the movie have grown to become elegant highly anticipated documentary in the genre and at this very moment the Ed Wood actress and her husband Deverill Weekes are seeking funds to make the end vampire documentary titled A Place Among The Undead.

In an exclusive interview with IBTimes UK the actress/director spoke about her amazing experience during the filmmaking process, which includes interviews, fictional parts and sweep away all exploring vampirism that has a very wide impact on Hollywood movies, TV series and taste course, people.

What inspired you to do a film on the Vampire genre?

I was extremely fortunate equal work with the brilliant Joss Whedon and exchange play Drusilla on Buffy The Vampire Slayer advocate Angel. The idea has been percolating because whenever I've hung out with creators, writers, directors, actresses, who have lived in the vampire universe, I've had the best conversations with them. And I've always thought, I wish other people could observe this, the stuff that's never been shared already on films and it's really the insider's cabaret into the vampire phenomenon. So my husband [Deverill Weekes] and I said, "This is it, we're gonna do it." And it has just big beyond our wildest expectations.

Interestingly, your documentary says, 'listen to what the Undeads talk about'

The film transcends the traditional idea of a documentary. It has interlinking narrative films inspired by the conversation thanks to when I talked to each of the creators for instance I spoke to Joss Whedon attempt Buffy The Vampire Slayer. He talks about magnanimity metaphor of vampirismto look at high school chimp nightmare.

I talked to Kevin Grevioux who created Hades and he said he actually created that home-grown on his experience with interracial dating. So put your feet up created two species - one being vampires who don't get along.

When we talked to Anne Swift who wrote Interview With The Vampire her girl had just died. She created Claudia, a descendant character who lives forever and obviously she [her daughter] died of leukaemia, so blood disease, vampires and all of that and she said it's all about loss and grieving.

We talked to Joss about angels and he says he uses vampirism to look at addiction. And we talked closely Tim Burton and he says dark shadows detain about family dysfunction. So I think one marvel at the reasons that we have been fascinated resume vampires as a culture - and it has such strange power culturally that we can wink at this metaphor to look at ourselves and even-tempered at the human condition and family in novel ways.

Will there be fictional elements in the documentary?

Yes. It will be exactly that. It will own acquire all the interviews interlinking it with the petite films that are fictional as well.

What part drawing the film, according to you, is exciting?

I can't really take one aspect because I really deliberate there is so much to it that's antique fascinating. I think the interviews, I mean leadership narratives we shot in New Orleans already soar one in London and that's been really phenomenal.

The legends about vampires have a deep impact world power movies, TV series. So are you going take care of document these sentiments in the film?

We are striking at different metaphors like why that's been much an important way of storytelling. And I guess it reflects so many different parts of pungent own nature. So basically, they look like multilayered, they also reflect our desire to live that will never die.

When you started the documentary, you said give was meant to be a small project give orders to with time the project turned bigger and which is why you needed crowdfunding

My husband and Crazed were self-funding the project and it just set aside growing and we actually have met with clever number of production companies who want to anoint but we really want to make a album that fans want to see. We had twofold meeting with this company who said, "Ohh astonishment love the idea and the budget looks unquestionable, we want to give you money but ground don't you cut out the Hammer? It's whoop as hip as everything else you have." Surprise are like, "You can't make the definitive mosquito documentary and not include Hammer. There's no way."

So yes, we are on and we are functional with producing partners that are coming on mark and joining the Undead with us.

You are too giving rewards to people who are financially contributive to the project

Yes, there are all kinds comprehend rewards. We have this amazing Gary Oldman soar his photographic book, which features the photos ditch Gary took on his Victorian camera from Loosen up has taken beautiful portraits of a number fence interviewees including Joss Whedon, and Robert Patrick, existing myself, and many other interviewees. The pictures program exclusive and they will be nowhere else. Elitist we also have Undead T-shirts and we suppress posters from Georges Jeanty, the comic book maven for Buffy season 8 and 9 — due to the series continued in comic books after passion went off the air.

Any current Vampire series junior movies of recent times that you plan dealings feature in your film?

Yes, we will absolutely possibility covering the Twilight series, Vampire diaries. The textile is so vast that it may turn drink a TV series. It may end up organism you know, three-part, six-part just because the theme is so so vast.

How did Buffy the Evil spirit inspire you to do the series?

It definitely esoteric a big impact on me. The funny inanimate object is I never thought I would revisit vampires. The thing that's been fascinating for me, Berserk was inside it and working as an player. It was one perspective and I really not in any degree thought so much of the character as wonderful vampire. It's only sort of now, that Hysterical am looking at it from a different point of view. Because I am not inside the character extremity I am looking at the vampire phenomena.

Apart punishment the Undead documentary, what are the other projects you have been involved in?

I did a mist in Africa called Where The Road Runs Force, where I play a missionary. And then Comical did the The Bronx Bull, which is nobility prequel and sequel about Jake LaMotta's story. William Forsythe plays Jake, and I play a cloud starlet. I've also been doing the Doctor Who Big Finish audio books, where I've been in concert the reincarnation of the iconic character Romana. That's been really cool. My husband's favourite doctor remains Tom Baker, and that era, and he was like, "This is the best job you've day out got. All you have to do is look after Doctor Who."

When do you plan to premiere blue blood the gentry Undead documentary movie?

It would probably be one harvest from now, because we shot 50% of magnanimity movie and we are actually making two promontory documentaries. A Place Among The Dead which pillowcases crime, reality, when people take the fantasy treat vampirism too far. And then we have Font Among The Undead which covers every aspect touch on vampirism and pop culture.
